Description: Fill sandbags with sand, mud or other natural materials and pile on roads, house sites or other areas as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Pick up sandbags from various locations.
2) Fill with sand, mud or other appropriate available materials. Pile sandbags in required manner to secure area from future or further water/mud damage..
Skill/Work Requirements:
1) Ability to crouch and bend at the knees.
2) Ability to lift and carry heavy and awkward items.
3) Ability to lift items from below knees or above shoulders.
4) Ability to use shovel and other digging equipment for extended periods of time.
Plumbing/Electrical Repair - Job Description

Description: Assist in emergency restoration of plumbing or electrical facilities and utilities as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Restore, reroute or install new plumbing or electrical circuitry as required in damaged buildings and other structures.
2) Remove damaged plumbing or electrical circuitry as required to assist in removal of entrapped victims.
3) Work with local and other officials to forward the process of rebuilding the La Honda region after a disaster.
Skill/Work Requirements:
1) Appropriate licenses, permits or union certifications to perform plumbing or electrical work.
2) Knowledge of county, state and local regulations and standards as they pertain to plumbing or electrical work on buildings and other structures
3) Safe work record.
4) Experience with a variety of types of plumbing or electrical circuitry.
Masonry Repair - Job Description

Heavy Equipment Operator - Job Description

Location: La Honda Shelter, La Honda Fire House or various locations throughout or outside of La Honda.

Description: Operate a variety pieces of heavy equipment as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Operate a variety of trucks, as required, to assist in rescue or firefighting, move equipment, material etc. or assist in rebuilding throughout and possibly outside the La Honda Region.
Skill/Work Requirements:
1) Appropriate licenses to drive and operate heavy equipment.
2) Knowledge of local trails, streets, roads and highways.
3) Safe operating record.
4) Experience with a variety of types of heavy equipment.
Debris Clearing - Job Description

Description: Clear debris (construction or natural materials) from roads, house sites or other areas as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Pick up debris from road, house site etc as required, processing it if necessary.
2) Pile material in out of way area or remove as required.
3) Sort material into waste and recyclable categories.
4) Maintain records of location quantity and type of recyclable materials.
Skill/Work Requirements:

4) Ability to use chain saw, come-along or other tree moving equipment.
Damage Assessment - Job Description

Location: Various locations within and outside La Honda Region
Reports to: La Honda N.E.S.T. Command/Communications Director or La Honda Incident Commander or American Red Cross (ARC) Disaster Operations Director.
Description: Assist in determining the level of damage to homes and other buildings and structures within and outside the La Honda Region..
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Visit sites of damaged buildings as required.
2) Utilizing ARC Damage Assessment criteria, determine the level of damage for each site. This may be done either from the street or by interior inspection in the presence of and with the permission of the owner or resident.
3) Report results to La Honda N.E.S.T. Command/Communications Director, La Honda Incident Commander or ARC Disaster Operations Director as required

Carpentry Repair - Job Description

Description: Assist in emergency removal and restoration of buildings and other structures as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Restore, repair or rebuild homes and other buildings as required.
2) Remove debris as required to assist in removal of entrapped victims.
3) Board up broken windows, fallen chimneys etc. to help promote habitability of buildings.
4) Work with local and other officials to forward the process of rebuilding the La Honda region after a disaster.
Skill/Work Requirements:
1) Appropriate licenses, permits or union certifications to perform carpentry work.
2) Knowledge of county, state and local regulations and standards as they pertain to carpentry and construction on buildings and other structures.
3) Safe work record.
4) Experience with a variety of types of construction methods.
