Also, request the supervisor to introduce the volunteer to any coworkers and remind the supervisor that volunteer evaluation forms are available for completion after the position has been terminated.
B. Following-up after volunteer placement
1) As time allows, the Volunteer Manager (or a representative) should follow-up with the volunteer supervisor to ascertain whether the volunteer has met the needs of the position and is performing in a satisfactory manner.
2) If performance is unsatisfactory, ascertain whether the volunteer would be better placed in a different position. Work with the supervisor and the volunteer to 1) find a different position for the volunteer and 2) refill the original position. (Don't forget to mark the position as available on both the 1-Line Job Description List and the Skills Vs. Jobs Database Printout).
3) The volunteer supervisor should also be asked whether additional volunteers will be required as relief-type workers and, if so, when that need might occur.
4) If the position has been terminated, ascertain whether the supervisor envisions needing additional assistance and whether he/she would recommend the volunteer for additional volunteer positions.
