7.0 Firehouse Operations

STARTING THE GENERATOR

Please Note: Any documents not available at this Website are located in the NEST file cabinet at the La Honda firehouse.

  1. Turn on the battery operated light on the roof of the generator shed if required
  2. Make sure the large transfer switch on the wall labeled STATION/OFF/GENERATOR is set to either STATION or OFF.
  3. Press the preheat button (to the right of the dial) and hold for one minute (unless generator was run within last few minutes).
  4. Locate the fuel filter on the right side of the engine (The fuel filter looks like twin canisters.) and the priming pump is just above.
  5. Prime the engine by cycling the priming pump 3-4 times.
  6. Press START.
  7. Allow the generator to warm for at least one minute.
  8. Move the transfer switch to GENERATOR.

 

GENERATOR SHUTDOWN

  1. Move the transfer switch to either STATION or OFF.
  2. Allow the generator to idle for at least one minute.
  3. Press STOP.

OPENING GARAGE DOORS – NO ELECTRICITY

Front Doors:

  1. Locate the large loop of chain beside the door
  2. Find the single smaller chain clipped to the wall
  3. Unclip the smaller chain, pull it down as far as possible, then re-clip it to the wall.
  4. Pull on the large loop of chain to raise or lower the garage door.
  5. Release the tension on the smaller chain and re-clip it to the wall if the door will remain open or closed for an extended period.

Back Door:

  1. Pull back the bolt securing the door.
  2. Lift the door straight up.
  3. When closing, secure the door with the bolt.
