La Honda NEST - the Organization   

The La Honda NEST is chartered as a permanent standing committee of the La Honda Fire Brigade. It was established to "address the needs of the La Honda Community relative to preparation for a major disaster. NEST also assists in emergency service at the discretion of the Incident Commander during a disaster."

NEST's duties include:

• "maintaining information on personnel and physical resources available within the Community and coordinating the utilization of these resources during a disaster,
• coordinating training of a volunteer network for both American Red Cross and community disaster sponsors,
• establishing a group of personnel to support the "firefighters" and to provide inter-agency communication during a major disaster,
• supporting the fund-raising efforts of the Board of Directors of the La Honda Fire Brigade."

La Honda NEST has three operational modes: Disaster Preparation, Disaster Response and Fund Raising
